Independent Living Program

The Independent Living Program offers assistance to youth ages 17 to 21 who are aging out or have aged out of foster care. This innovative program offers case management services to youth in order to develop and implement a plan for a successful transition into adulthood.

Each youth is given an educational and life skills assessment to determine their strengths and needs. Based on the assessment, youth are directed to appropriate services, such as: assistance to complete their high school education or help in obtaining a post-secondary education; life skills courses; money management; career development; health; substance abuse prevention; safety; parenting and social skills.

Financial incentives are available for youth who participate. Financial assistance may also be available to youth for transportation, housing assistance, food, mental health treatment, medical services, and temporary emergency assistance.
