Respite child care is provided for children at risk of being abused or neglected. Through this service, eligible families within Washoe County receive assistance locating and paying for temporary care. While the children at risk are being cared for by a qualified child care provider, their parents receive a much needed break from the daily stresses of parenting and/or obtain intervention/prevention services.

Families are referred for respite care services by Social Services or the Health Department. Parents can also request respite care for themselves by contacting Kayelynn Savage by e-mail or at 856-6210 ext 1134 between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday. If a need for respite care arises on weekends or after 5:00p.m., please call the Crisis Call Center at 784-8090 or 800-992-5757.
