DESCRIPTION:This is an in person class at The Children’s Cabinet – Green Valley\n\n\nInstructor: Saleemah Freeman \nNevada Registry Approved: 1.0 hours \nCKA: Health\, Nutrition & Safety \nThis course presents recommended practices and policies for the safe\, developmental appropriate transport of young children to and from child care programs. Including vehicle types and maintenance routines and child passenger restraint systems\, etc. Based primarily on federal safety standards and Nevada child care licensing regulations NAC 432A.290 and NAC. \nTraining Objectives: \n•Identify key recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Board regarding child passenger safety \n•Identify responsibilities of a center’s transportation supervisor\, drivers and other staff with relation to transporting young children \n•Identify recommended practices for maintaining a center’s bus or other transport vehicle \n•Demonstrate understanding of recommended practices for the use of child restraint systems according to the National Transportation Safety Board and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration \n•Identify safe vehicle operating procedures \n•Identify recommended procedures for loading and unloading buses and other transport vehicles as well as safe riding practices \n•Identify recommended practices for conducting evacuation drills and emergency management \n•Demonstrate understanding of safe practices for planning and managing field trips•Incorporate guidelines set forth in Nevada Child Care Regulations Revised NAC432A.290 found in R092-16 (Telephones\, insurance for protection against liability to third persons\, transportation) and NAC \nEach professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience.
