SUMMARY:Youth Mental Health First Aid  Training Thurs June 2- Yerington\, Nevada
DESCRIPTION:Youth Mental Health First Aid presented by the Children’s Cabinet\n\n\n\nThis is an 8-hour training with blended instruction. Participants first must complete an approximately two hour self-paced module prior to attending the six hour Instructor Led Session (ILS). Successful completion of both parts of the blended training are required in order to complete this training. \n\n  \n\nAfter registration\, further information on how to complete the self-paced portion of the training will be sent. If you are within 3-4 weeks of the training date\, it should arrive via email generally within 72 hours of registration. If the training date is further out\, you will be contacted when we get closer to the date. \n\n \n\nPlease be aware the YMHFA training will cover various topics of a sensitive nature\, including depression/anxiety\, substance use\, psychosis\, suicide prevention\, or other topics that may potentially be distressing for some. However\, YMHFA program emphasizes recovery and resiliency and aims to teach participants how to provide assistance for youth experiencing a mental health challenge. \n\n \n\nPlease contact Taylor Morgan at tmorgan@childrenscabinet.org for any questions. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people.  \nThe course introduces common mental health challenges for youth\, reviews typical adolescent development\, and teaches ALGEE\, a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety\, depression\, substance use\, disorders in which psychosis may occur\, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD)\, and eating disorders.

If you are looking for the curriculum for assisting youth (YMHFA)\, please refer to alternative training dates.  \nCOURSE INFORMATION (PLEASE READ PRIOR TO SIGNING UP)  \n•	Participants must complete a 2 hour self-paced module PRIOR to attending the Instructor Led Session. Details on this will be emailed to participants after registration. Those who do not complete the prerequisite work will not be eligible to receive the Certificate of Completion.  \n•	Class size is limited and will be filled on a first come\, first served basis. If the class you wish to attend is full\, please contact me for alternate dates. \n•	Please be aware the MHFA training will cover various topics of a sensitive nature\, including depression/anxiety\, substance use\, psychosis\, or other topics that may potentially be distressing for some. However\, MHFA program emphasizes recovery and resiliency and aims to teach participants how to provide assistance for youth experiencing a mental health challenge.  \nPlease contact Taylor Morgan at tmorgan@childrenscabinet.org for any questions.  \nAbout MHFA:  \nMental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older\, how to offer and provide initial help\, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety\, depression\, psychosis\, and addictions. \nThe course introduces common mental health challenges and teaches ALGEE\, a 5-step action plan for how to help people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
