Rebecca’s Story: Honoring Her Brother, One LEGO at a Time Through NV Energy

Five years ago, Rebecca Curtis, an employee of NV Energy, experienced an unimaginable loss. Her brother passed away from COVID-19. As her family searched for a meaningful way to honor his life, they thought about his joy, his creativity, and one of his greatest passions: Legos.

That spark of inspiration led to a heartfelt tradition. In partnership with The Children’s Cabinet, Rebecca and NV Energy launched an annual Lego drive in his memory. Since then, NV Energy employees in Reno have come together each year to honor Rebecca’s brother by collecting Lego sets that bring creativity, comfort, and joy to children and teens supported by The Children’s Cabinet.

This year, for the first time, NV Energy employees in Las Vegas joined the effort, extending the impact of the Lego drive to children in Southern Nevada as well.

This annual drive is just one example of NV Energy’s long-standing commitment to our mission. As a dedicated community partner, NV Energy continues to show up for Nevada’s children and families, bringing creativity, comfort, and care, one LEGO at a time.
