What is YouthBuild?

YouthBuild is a global network of programs that helps young people build brighter futures through education, job training, leadership development, and community service. By providing hands-on learning, career pathways, and supportive mentorship, YouthBuild empowers participants to gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed in work, school, and life.

In communities around the world, YouthBuild participants earn educational credentials, develop workforce skills, and make a positive impact through service projects that strengthen their neighborhoods. The program’s focus on education, career readiness, and leadership helps young adults reach their goals while becoming active contributors to their communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

YouthBuild serves opportunity youth ages 16–24 who have left high school without earning a diploma. Eligibility is determined through an intake process and may vary based on funding requirements.

No. YouthBuild is a federally funded program and is provided at no cost to eligible participants.

Yes! Participants who have not completed high school have the opportunity to work toward earning their HiSET while enrolled in the program.

Participants receive hands-on workforce training and may earn industry-recognized credentials in areas such as construction, safety, healthcare, manufacturing, and other career pathways based on available programming.

Yes. Depending on your career pathway, participants may have the opportunity to earn certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, MC3, Community Health Worker, and other industry-recognized credentials.

Yes. Participants may have opportunities to participate in paid work experiences, internships, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, or on-the-job training depending on program availability and individual goals.

Absolutely. Our staff work with participants on resume development, interview preparation, job search assistance, employer connections, and placement into employment, education, or apprenticeship opportunities.

YouthBuild provides individualized case management and supportive services to help participants overcome barriers to success. Services may include transportation assistance, referrals to community resources, career counseling, and ongoing support.

Program length varies depending on individual goals and funding requirements, but participants receive comprehensive services designed to prepare them for long-term success.

YouthBuild continues to provide follow-up support after program completion to help participants maintain employment, continue their education or training, and successfully transition into their next steps.
