Promoting Language and Literacy in Young Children

The power of language and literacy in families is huge! Participants will learn how to promote their child’s vocabulary growth through conversation and the benefits of reading to their children. They will develop an ​understanding of the basic sentence structure., how to recognize letters and their sounds, and the importance of ability print in everyday life​. This class will teach caregivers how to engage in interactive storytelling​, foster phonological awareness through rhyming and sound play​, and encourage early writing skills through drawing and scribbling.
