Afterschool programs often serve youth, ages 5 to 14. It is important for the program staff to understand the roles of health nutrition and safety in a quality program. There are standards to help make the afterschool environment safe.

Training Objectives:

1 . By the end of the session, participants will recognize how health, nutrition, and safety create quality afterschool programs.

2 . By the end of the session, participants will understand the purpose of health and safety standards.

3 . By the end of the session, participants will identify strategies for improving the health in safety in their afterschool program.

Each professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience. You can expect to receive a three question quiz or test at the end of each training. If you have questions or concerns, or need additional information about this process, feel free to contact the Professional Development Training Coordinator at 775-856-6200.
