Success in providing positive outcomes for children and youth is determined by how well the afterschool program partners with parents and families. Communication with parents is an essential part of any educational or youth development program. Parents want and need to know about their children from the afterschool program perspective. At the same time, afterschool staff benefit from the input of parents as they seek to enhance their understanding of the participants’ behaviors and needs.
