Out of School Time: How Kids Learn Science

CKA: Environment & Curriculum

This session will focus on three fundamental principles for learning as identified by the National Academics of Science: 1) attention to prior knowledge; 2) foundation off actual knowledge and understanding; and 3) learner self-regulation.

Training Objectives:

1 . To understand principles of learning including attention to prior knowledge and foundation of factual knowledge.

2 . To understand principles of learning including attention to understanding and learner self-regulation.

3 . To understand how to apply principles for learning in afterschool settings to maximize children’s science, engineering, and technology learning.

Each professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience. You can expect to receive a three question quiz or test at the end of each training.
