In this module, we will be going over the developing brain and how it is affected by children’s experiences and interactions with the important people in their lives. Providers play a critical role in supporting young children’s social-emotional development. Brain connections are experience dependent; early experiences last a lifetime.
Training Objectives:
•Learners will understand how social-emotional development unfolds in the first five years of a child’s life.
•Learners will identify areas of the brain involved in social interactions and emotional reactions.
•Learners will discuss the effects of stress on social-emotional development.
