Afterschool programs often serve youth, ages 5 to 14. It is important for the program staff to understand the roles of health nutrition and safety in a quality program. There are standards to help make the afterschool environment safe.

Training Objectives:

1. To recognize the roles of health, nutrition, and safety in afterschool.

2. To explain the standards set forth to make an afterschool environment healthy and safe.

3. To understand the message of a quality after-school program in the context of health and safety.

Each professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience. You can expect to receive a three question quiz or test at the end of each training. If you have questions or concerns, or need additional information about this process, feel free to contact the Professional Development Training Coordinator at 702-825-8978
